Steady State Roasting is an award-winning, small-batch roastery that is dedicated to the craft and care of providing specialty coffee. From the small farms we buy coffee, through the roasting process and finishing with how we serve our customers, Steady State Roasting is truly transparent in everything we do. Our sensory lab, located in Carlsbad, CA, is open to the public seven days a week where you can experience some of our award-winning coffees. We offer both single origin and blended coffees for espresso drinks and pour-overs. We also serve amazing teas and specialty beverages.
Founder and lead roaster, Elliot Reinecke, started Steady State Roasting in a shed behind his rental house. Elliot started sourcing and roasting because of his love for coffee, and the love of the craft. A year later Elliot was placing in national roasting competitions. The first cafe was a 200 sq ft shared work area that included a glass maker, wood worker and potter. In April of 2018, we opened our own dedicated cafe right on State Street. A few moths later we opened our roastery - also in Carlsbad. We may be growing, but we promise to only get better…
Awards and Recognition:
Coffee with distinction. Steady State Roasting is proud of our 2017 second place and 2018 third place finishes in national roasting competitions at Auston TX, and New Orleans, LA ,respectfully. We also have first place wins in local events like Cold Brew Fest and Camp Coffee competitions. We have been rated a Zagats top 10 coffee shop for San Diego and were recently in San Diego Magazine “Best of North County”. A few of our coffees have scored above 90 from Coffee Review. Every Thursday at 1 PM, Steady State Roasting offers a free cupping that is open to the public. Whether you are a true coffee aficionado or if it’s just your first time, we pass no judgement. Each cupping has different coffees or roasts to try, so every week has a new surprise.
