ABOUT THE FARM

Sipi Falls, named after the iconic waterfall just down the road, is a centralized wet mill located in Uganda’s Kapchorwa district. The mill buys and processes cherries from over 8,600 organic and diversified farms spread across the northern slopes of Mount Elgon. Each farm averages just 0.2 hectares of coffee, with elevations ranging from 1450-2200 meters. The sheer volume of high-quality coffee produced by this single mill is a testament to the ideal growing conditions—elevation, biodiversity, and skilled farming experience—that abound between the farmers and Sipi Falls’ management team. Add to this the mill’s innovative business model, which, more than 20 years after its founding, remains a leader in producing affordable, certified, coffee of the highest quality on the continent.

While the majority of coffee processed at Sipi Falls is fully washed, the quality team began experimenting with honey and natural processes in 2016. Initially, these coffees trickled out into the world quietly, considered more of a side project. However, with a few years under their belt now, they've developed an impressive annual portfolio of honey, natural, and custom washed coffees that masterfully showcase the full spectrum of Mount Elgon’s high-elevation terroir. The natural processed coffees, in particular, stand out as some of the best in Africa—a significant achievement, especially with Ethiopia as a neighbor.
