Monteblanco Cold Fermentation Geisha
A great crowd pleaser from the Huila region in Colombia, this Geisha rarely disappoints.
About farmer Rodrigo Sanchez
Rodrigo is one of the kindest and warm hearted farmers we have ever met. His passion for coffee, farming and people is contagious and always makes for a great time hanging out. He is a third generation farmer that is constantly pushing the boundaries of farming and coffee processing, which is why we always have coffee from him in stock.
Just a few years ago when we were walking the Monteblanco farm with Rodrigo, he was super excited to show us his first crop of Geisha plants. They were only about 2-3 feet tall, but he expected that year to be the first harvest.
Just talking to him about his first crop of Geisha got us really excited and we committed to buying half of the lot without even trying the coffee! A silly thing to do, but we were stoked when the coffee landed at the roastery and it tasted amazing! This year is the second season of harvesting those trees. Rodrigo has been doing a lot of experiments with cold fermentation; refrigerating the coffee during processing to extend the fermentation time, which in his experiments has helped add complexity.
This coffee is super tasty, and we hope that one day you will get to meet Rodrigo as well!
