Thousands of small farmers live in the Sidama Guji coffee region, growing coffee at high altitudes where the Rift Valley meets the Bale Mountains.  Farms range in size from 1-20 hectares and are lined with banana and mango trees growing alongside the coffee.

The Guji region is rich in history as well as coffee.  Producers bring their ripe cherries to central washing stations where the cherries are pulped and washed with mountain spring water the same day.  The pulped coffee then goes into a fermentation tank for 72 hours, washed again, and then spread out on raised beds to dry for up to two weeks.  The people from the Guji region take pride in the high quality of this sweet, clean coffee.

We purchased this coffee through Keffa Coffee importers and purchased three 60 kilo bags at a price of $3.25/lb.  Keffa specializes in relationships in Ethiopia and we work with them on a few of our other African coffees.  This coffee is stored on the east coast and shipping adds about $.26 per pound to get it to our facility.  We score this coffee at 87+ points
